Think about this: Either all religions are wrong or they are all wrong except one. The history of humanity, and much prejudice, mayhem and destruction has been brought about over the centuries by those trying to prove that theirs is the "one".

Don't forget to include the religion of atheism, and the religion of humanism and secularism, they're responsible for more prejudice, mayhem and destruction than any theistic system.

Don't forget to include flaming rectums running at the mouth like Chicken Little.

I guess you would but that guts the pledge of its significance.

Our nation was founded by folks who knew that our rights came from our creator and that no human or government could take them away. The idea that there should be justice for all is founded upon the idea that all men are created equal and are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. The language is very clear and specific.

Really? The pledge had no significance until the phrase was added in the 50's? I'm sure that's news to a lot of people.

The significance is that the US was founded on Christian principles and the phrase “under God” goes back to Lincoln...its a direct quote.

Thats the significance.

The U.S. Constitution is a wholly secular document. It contains no mention of Christianity or Jesus Christ. In fact, the Constitution refers to religion only twice in the First Amendment, which bars laws "respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," and in Article VI, which prohibits "religious tests" for public office. Both of these provisions are evidence that the country was not founded as officially Christian.

The U.S. Constitution is a wholly secular document... (show quote)

That's not what I said; I didn't say "the constitution must contain a mention of Christianity or Jesus Christ".

I said that America was founded on Christian principles...not the same thing. Anyone who knows history knows that the founders of our country weren't godless men for the most part. I could fill this thread with quote after quote from them illustrating that fact.

Secondly, any reading of our founding documents (bill of rights for example) and various personal documents of men from those times, would dispel the idea that we were founded by secular men with secular ideas.

The founding principles of America are in the US Constitution. Things like the right
to be armed, free speech, free press etc. If christian principles were meant to be a
founding concept of America I believe it would have been written into the constitution.

I have no doubt that you believe that, however you are ignorant of US history then.

It may be true that you believe that, yes, but your belief itself is false.

Christianity can't take full credit for good solid moral principals in this world...other belief systems have them as well...they are universal t***hs.

A good portion of the founders were not Christians. They likely all believed in a Creator, but this country was founded on democratic principals and moral principals.

Proving these universal belief systems are from God. Lemme read my copy of the Declaration of Independence.

Sure wasn’t gifted by some leftie. That’s for sure.
