I oredered the Rokinon 14mm 2.8 with the AE chip kit from Focus Camera via Amazon. They sent me the non-chipped version. I looked up the lens at B&H and Adorama and the add on both Amazon and Focus's web page and noticed that Focus listed the non-chipped model number. They sent me an RMA and they received the lens back. However after 4 days, I still did not receive my credit so I had to call up Amazon. Amazon was great about giving me the refund.

Focus does not have a good reputation.

“The Chip” on those Rokinon/Samyang lenses, in my experience, is useless. I’ve found with those super wide angle Korean lenses, it’s just easier to focus manually, or leave it on infinity. In fact, for Nikon DSLR’s, unless I kept the lens at f/22 and infinity, I got an Err message in the camera’s top LCD display.

The "Chip Version" kit was supposedly $299.00 from Focus. I ended up buying the Samyang non chipped version from B&H for $249.00. Also, it was the principle of the matter that I feel that they tried bait and switch.

Good result. It's good you bought it through Amazon. "Focus Camera" is a stupid name for a business.

The Rokinon wide angles 12 and 14 have such depth of field, that autofocus is of negligible value. Since you will most likely be using them for scenics, you can set them at their hyperfocal distance and forget about focusing. I have the 12 for my Fuji and it is a very nice lens for the money. Of course the Fuji has the advantage of the EVF so setting exposure is so easy - manual control of all parameters is as quick as if it were auto everything.

I suggest you don't do business with Focus camera, and call your credit card company immediately so the can intervene on your behalf.

As far as chipped vs non chipped, you may want to read this post on dpreview:

"If it's the same problems I had with buying an un-chipped Zeiss lens I would suggest getting the chipped version.

In use on camera (for me a D700)...

If you use more than one unchipped lens you need to tell the camera which it is each time whereas with chipped lenses it recognises them after the first use. This is not a problem if you only use one unchipped lens because it defaults to the last one you used.
You need to control the aperture via the aperture ring. I was used to using the control wheel and didn't like this.
1/2 stops, not 1/3rd
Correct aperture not reported in the viewfinder when at 1/2 stops.
Then in PP...

When searching for images using metadata it doesn't record the lens
Every 'unkonwn' lens is grouped together
None of these problems is insurmountable but I would only save money by buying the unchipped lens if you really need to."
