1. 2014 Volvo 780 at rest area in Ca.
2. 2016 Volvo 780 after a steer tire blowout.
8 people stopped to see if I was ok. That was nice. I still shook for a half hour. 70 mpg up in Wisconsion. Nice sunny day. Missed the tree, the fence and the ditch. Missed a bridge by about 1 minute. Best part... No tickey.

Good looking rigs!!!
I've heard of two different trucks (in central Texas) that had steer tire blowouts.
One was in the right lane, left steer blew out and could not hold the truck straight. The truck veered to the left and hit the wall in the median.
Another truck blew out right steer tire and veered right into wide grass right of way and stopped without hitting anything.
Both drivers said they could not keep the truck on the pavement or control the veering action.
I believe the blown out tire tread got wrapped around tight on the inside end of the axle and prevented the tire/rim from turning. Similar to the tire locking up and and not rotating. Causing the uncontrolled "veering" action.
Is this what you experienced?

Not exactally. The tire shredded, but stayed on the rim.
I lucked out, had a nice wide grassy atea. Got it slowing down, but when the right steer blew, it yanked the wheel. I did manage to hold on, but the grass (weeds) had just been cut and acted like grease. Only had 1 side by side in the trailer, so it was very light. I usually haul 40 - 44500 lbs. Or more.
Fortunately, the truck stopped. Wasnt sure about that for a sec.
I do have the dashcam video, but only my phone. No onet connection with the puter in the truck unlrss I hotspot. I'll try to load it when I get somewhere with a good wifi connection. I need to learn how to put stuff on utube anyway.
