Focus A6400 vs A7R3

I love my A7R3 but have to admit the A6400 has better focus. Put the spot on the subject it locks on and sticks while the shutter button is 1/2 pressed. A great little entry level camera.

Can't wait until the announced firmware update for the 7R3 is released. If the focus works as well I'll be a happier birder.

These were taken with the 6400 and 70-200 f4 lens at 200mm and then cropped. The APS-C sensor holds up very well. Love the crop factor. And yes I used fill flash and auto ISO.

Great shots! I have the same 70-200, and I find perfect for reach. It’s light weight, very bright and is good for sports or portraits especially with my a6500. I just sold my A7R2, too heavy, and it’s lenses are more than I want to spend. Sticking with the crop and a nice new RX100vi.
Have fun!

I also like that this lens does not extend when zoomed.

I don't have large hands but still find the Sony APS-C bodies are a bit too small. I have a body extender on mine which adds 5/8" and is just about perfect for me without adding much weight.

Thanks Toment.
