One of the added benefits of a gear drive tripod head is the ability to frame vertical panoramas. This is 3 shots stacked vertically of the Artist’s Pallet overlook in Death Valley. I was lucky, this winter’s rains caused a lot of mudslides blocking the roads. That and the salt plain at Badwater, if you go off the beaten track, is kinda muddy about 1 footstep down.
