Bill, these are really great! Love the lighting.

Thanks Carol! You can credit the Sun for the lighting! I hope you try it!

A valuable display as a classroom exhibit, after all, UHH is about education... this display of "Table Top in The Sun" is one that if forgotten should be relearned and if new ... then used as a valuable tool in their kit. Painters centuries ago did not have the burden of strobe lights and the paraphernalia of today ... they had the sun and mirrors for lighting and did it well.

As you suggest, Bill, "I used the Crop tool, Clone tool and masking tools to pp" these tools are, if skillfully used, will prove most valuable, especially crop. I learned in the Camera Club that "Crop to the Story" is perhaps the most important lesson to learn.

Well done Bill.

I believe this new found source will give you hours of fun experimenting.

I did something like this a few years ago and thought it might be good to show it again for newcomers.
Knowing nothing about my camera and relying completely on software, the thought of having a studio never crossed my mind. But, I could understand why someone would want one; perfect lighting and no wind! As I sat on my sofa watching the morning Sun blasting through my sliding door window, this idea hit me like a ton of bricks! Photo 1 and Photo 2 are my setups. Place a table or a stand up against a window that invites the morning Sun! Place a subject on the table. Take the photo from the side of the window and onto the subject as seen in Photos 1 and 2!
The most important step is to completely crop out the window and leave just the Sun’s rays on the subjects as in Photos 3 and 4. Use whatever tools you need to get the affects you want! I used the Crop tool, Clone tool and masking tools to pp. Photos 5, 6, 7 and 8 are other finished photos all done the same way!
Have fun!
