Hi guys and girls!
I am having hard time to find a replacement pentaprism for my first camera, a Pentax K 1000,

What makes you need to replace the prism? That's major surgery. Unless you just like to tear things apart and try to reassemble them, hoping they work afterwards, you can get a fine K1000 for $100.00 and under.

Believe it or not the prisms in old SLRs of that era deteriorate and sometimes develop fungus...also the foam used in some older SLRs disintegrates and causes damage to the silver or aluminum coating...have this problem on an old OM-2n but am not yet ready to spend $300 for CLA and repair. I would agree with you that it's cheaper to buy a used replacement but then there is the sentimental value attached regarding his mother...maybe just make it a family heirloom and get another K1000 to shoot with?

If the prism is heavily "fungused", so are the rest of the internals.
Mirror foam and door foam are fairly simple to replace. I do it a lot with old cameras.
Leaving cost aside, tackling a prism replacement is a big job. Better to put the gift from Mom on display as memorabilia, intact.
Besides, if you can see through the viewfinder well enough to focus, and the lens is not too contaminated, you can take fine pictures. Prism fungus does not affect picture quality at all.
