From all your very helpful posts, I am leaning towards the D700. Thank you.

The thread title. It's not an original 5D,
it's a 5D Mark II. Different camera.

Just check the first post as to the MP
count for the two cameras. The Canon
is 20MP and Nikon is 12MP. That also
confirms it's a Mark-II.

.
Not trying to ruffle the feathers of Canon users, wasn't my intent. Your right, my mistake I was comparing the 5D but even with the 20mp, the D700 shot better in low light and the MarkII IS 1 year newer. It pains me to say this, now the edge goes to "ugh"...Canon.

I feel for you man, so many "touchy" people here, and always so quick to criticize...I would love to contribute, and participate more here on UHH, but I find things like this a constant annoyance, just nitpicking!

C'mon autofocus, that wasn't easy for me to say!

I'm sorry if I confused you, I wasn't talking about your reply, but rather the one calling you out on it being a 5DMKII, and not a 5D, which for me was a very easy mistake to make, and most of us knew what you were talking about...so, you are not the touchy one here

I understand but when it comes to Nikon and Canon, a poster has to be very careful about what they write.

I can relate..I/we (my wife is also a photographer) shoot both platforms, Canon and Nikon. And I think both should be concerned about Sony now in the fray, and a force to be reckoned with!

I just feel there is so many snarky comments made here, and it really isn't called for, just sayin'

OKaaaay now I take issue.

I'm the one who made the correction,
which was neither snarky, impolite, nor
nasty. And I can be that way whenever
I choose to. Yet I was not, in that post.

I made simple polite correction to steer
the thread back to the actual models in
question. I am certainly not any fanboi
for either brand ... no ax to grind.

IOW, I didn't "call out" anyone. I often
do ... but definitely did not in this case !

So I'm not "touchy" about any brand of
camera. But, anyone who might read
that into my polite correction might be,
perhaps, a little bit "touchy" ?

FWIW back on-topic. I've never had a
D700, altho I've been tempted by it's
spotless positive reputation. As to the
5D2 I do have one, and I would never
recommend it to a friend. It's reliable,
thaz all I can say for it. But is not the
only reliable camera, so pick another.

Agree, and neither was mine of ChgCanon’s reply.
