The backup cloud service called Mozy is disappearing like a cloud. If you have been using it, it's time to find another.

No wonder, never heard of it........
(Can something disappear if you didn't know it existed?)

Did this come to you in a dream---or do you have a source for this information?

As I stated earlier, it appears that Mozy was bought by Carbonite.

Nothing says it will be disappearing. They were purchased by Carbonite to gain access to their huge business base several months ago. I have been using them for about 10 years for both myself and clients. No notification of anything changing anytime soon.

The problem with "the cloud" is sometimes it is a sunny day. Sounds like a long drought coming for Mozy.

Why? Same process/function, different <parent> name?
I don't understand (know) the reason you said that.

Yes, I know it's been acquired. Does that mean it's "disapppearing like a cloud"?

It's not clear from the link you provided what happens to existing Mozy customers,
or to Mozy staff and facilities. I couldn't find a press release on Mozzy's site.
The main page does refer new customers to Carbonite:
"We're proud to announce that Mozy is now part of Carbonite" . . .
"Get Started with Carbonite". https://mozy.com

The Carbonite website has an article that says:

"Carbonite is committed to supporting existing Mozy customers and partners.
Therefore, Carbonite's plan is to:

* Protect the data of existing Mozy customers and partners
* Secure the investment that employees, customers and partners have made in Mozy
* Enhance and expand the data protection capabilities of Mozy customers and partners
through the Carbonite Data Protection Platform

"Carbonite will be announcing Mozy updates and showcasing the Carbonite Data Protection
Platform at Dell Technologies World 2018 April 30th – May 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada."

This also doe not make clear what becomes of Mozy staff and facilities.

(Glad I could help.)

To me going away is POUF.
Changing names (merging) or a business model, not so much.
Now if a while from now it no longer says Mozy by Carbonite and just says Carbonite, then yea, it went away.
