Doe's anyone have or had any experience with a tamron A08 200-500mm . I just bought a used one from EBAY and it seems like the auto focus is working very poorly like sometimes it locks in on focus and takes clean photos but more often it does not . tried it on stationary and moving objects . Thinking maybe a got a Raw Deal !

Have you checked the focus on a test chart in manual mode?

Could be in auto focus you may have a low light subject in which auto focus may not function properly.

Its a quite old lens that pre-dates digital and was never know for fast nor accurate autofucus. They do work better on FF cameras than crop sensor models. They are readily available under $100 in most mounts. Slightly more in pristeen condition.

I have no experience with that lens, but everything I ever bought from Ebay was garbage....either damaged, or not as advertised (different make / model, older than claimed, etc). I no longer risk using Ebay.

Before I think, I've got a bad lens, I always make sure I can dismiss all other possibilities, like my own technique, or the way I used the lens. A bit more information would be nice to determine if the fault is with the lens!

If there's any doubt, use the seller's return policy. If that doesn't work, ebay has a buyer protection plan to get your money back.

According to Dyxum, it was released in 2004 - which correlates with my memories .....
