very BEAUTIFUL shot.
Thanks for sharing.
JWM is there some reason you didn't 'paint with light' the two trees in the foreground?
In recent months I've been visiting various sites that show & discuss astrophotography and 'painting with light' the foreground, so as to give the Milky Way a connection to the Earth, as it were.
A separate large capacity battery powered flash, is good for such activity. That way you don't have to touch your camera, while it is busy doing its job on the Tripod. Just never flash anything ... that turns the flash towards your camera.
Nice shot of the Milky Way! Have you ever set up and filmed the Persied Meteor Showers?
I remember back in or around 2003 - 2005, there was a GANG BUSTER Persied Meteor Shower, that looked like everyone in the city was shooting Fireworks up into the night sky! I had NEVER in my life seen such a magnificent display of shooting stars!
Unfortunately, this occurred in the years before I finally bought my first two Sony digital cameras. Alas!
Digital 'mirrorless' cameras, that is.
