Wisconsin ... usually from March thru late fall. Very abundant up here.

Interesting. I would have guessed Nebraska, but I read that the snow and bitter cold winter there has slowed the migration in Nebraska. Now expected mid-March to mid-April.
Nice photos of one of my favorite spring arrivals! We've seen them in the field across the street several days ago during a short lull in below freezing temps. Bane of farmers, especially ones growing corn, a boon to photographers. Hoping to get some photos in the next few weeks as they invade the fields nearby here in SW Michigan.
They are my favorite Crane. I love their colors and they just seem to belong to any scene they appear within. The Japanese have used them in their paintings for centuries now and they never go out of style.
They are really pretty. Nice pictures
There is still a few hanging around in Florida. I saw one yesterday across the street.
