I will be "80" in April. Sounded old when I was younger, but I am fighting to stay healthy....I have a great cardiologist and GP. Go to exercise class 3 times a week.

I just signed up for a photo workshop in New Mexico in August, when I will be 84.

Yes, I am so far one of the lucky ones, aging and staying capable both physically and mentally. Maybe it has something to do with genes (my mother died at 98, needing assistance only the last 2 years).
I have been retired since 71, and can say that I have never been bored. My hobby of photography certainly helps.
I’ve been in workshops since retirement in India, Machuu Pichu, Greece, Vietnam, + several in the States.
Living here in New York City, with so much to do and see, and being able to drive are pluses.
Seeing my peers walking slowly with canes, and/or aides, with poor vision, hearing, and other age-related infirmities is all the incentive I need to keep hitting the gym. (That helped 10 years ago in recovering from a ruptured diverticula.)
Yes, of course I think about the future and the inevitable decline out there.
My family knows this: when I get to the point at which I do not know I’m alive, pull the plug. Hopefully for them, I will just wake up dead one morning.
Woody Allen said that he doesn’t want to achieve immortality; he wants to be immortal. Sorry, Woody.

Someday I will get old but for now, I will continue to push "old" ahead of me and let it engulf those people unaware of its consequences until its too late ........their youth spent and they ..... become "old"

I'll be 75 in a few weeks, but that doesn't describe how I feel. 75 sounds old, but I don't feel old.

As for all the money old people contribute to the economy, I bet a large portion is for medication, doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes - unfortunately.

As a 76 year old living in Southwest Florida I think most of the contributions go to early afternoon buffets and happy hours.

This is a great forum. Age is a bit of luck. My Italian Sardinian grandmother came here from a
farming and natural region where people live for a long time. My father was very strong and kind
he did die in his 70's. I am 75 never smoked and people cant believe my age (my wife gives me a look)
so that is not what I see in the mirror. Believe in glass red wine with dinner. We eat at little processed foods
as we can. I ride a mountain bike. Have now live in south east FL. Have never smoked. Eat meat sometimes. And I am about to be the main videographer in a couple of weeks at a running festival
with marathon and many races in DE. I stretch yoga style. Just on the floor by the TV. Don't believe in jogging but my son has been doing it for years. Practice some buddhist ideas of dealing with stress and life and death. Love stories of people and love kids of ages. Never pass up a wave or smile even babies get it.
Love the arts still working on a doc for a ballet school and social videos for their promotion. I admire the
kids and instructors of this wonderful art. I have been to 30 countries over years consider myself lucky.
Love cine film and photography. Still getting paid some of the time. Work for many charities from
First Responders, Homeless and Autistic children (my grandson has autism).
Life is an amazement. It can have joy and pain. Wonder and horror. I have been to the Taj Mahal
and the Holocaust museum in Israel. I have seen wonderful pictures made on small compact cameras
and smart phones. I have a couple of expensive cameras and a modest camcorder 10 bit.
I have been recently trying to turn the tide on UH to be more honest and interesting. And open.
Good luck all you old fa*%rts.

I'm not getting old until I hit 85, 83 now. Only disabling thing I have to contend with is peripheral neuropathy. Still do 3 hours per week at the gym.

I'm 85 and have been in reasonably good health all along. I stopped smokng 40 years ago. I used to jog every day. I watched my weight. I've been retired for 21 years and haven't been bored for a minute. However in the last 8 months, I really seem to be going downhill...aches and pains...difficulty lifting and carrying...lack of interest...poor balance....bad hearing. I am grateful for making it this far in reasonable shape. I've outlived most of my contemporaries. But I still HATE being 80+ I'm interested in comparable stories and reaction.

I am 78, retired, but still do most of the things I used to do. It just takes a little longer because I have more time. The biggest problem I have is the loss of physical strength. 50lbs weighs more than it used to.

I'll be 72 next month. My wife is almost 70. We still operate our business of 26 years of selling at trade shows. We have slowed from 30 to 35 events a year to 8 in our semi-retirement.

We love what we do and now enjoy it more than ever. We just took 9 days traveling from Washington state to Scottsdale AZ stopping in Reno for 3 days, supposed to be 2, but a blizzard hit so we stayed another day with side trip to Virginia City. Hwy was closed to Lake Tahoe from the record snow storm or would have gone there. Then Hwy 395 over 8,000' scenic passes on over 50 miles of hard packed snow, but sunny, to Death Valley where we love to hike. Next stop in Las Vegas visiting Valley of Fire state park and Hoover Dam. Then off to Scottsdale. This was our commute to work.

On the way back home we visited the Grand Canyon in the snow for a couple days. Trails going down were closed due to ice and snow so only walked the rim. It was 9° in the mornings but warmed up to 28° in the afternoon sun. Then Vegas again and back thru Death Valley where it was in the mid 70s.

Stayed in Reno again, made it to Lake Tahoe in the snow eating in the Riva Grill on the lake, our favorite restaurant there. Only 3 more days and we were home.

It's wonderful not being in a hurry going or returning.

Even when in my 40s I never thought I'd be having this much fun at 70+. Life is great.

I forgot to mention, I took hundreds of photos during the 35 day trip. Here are a handfull of them.

I just turned 70 last Oct. But, I feel and look 50. I am 5ft. 6in. tall and weigh 150 lbs. That has been my weight for at least 30 years. The only health problem I have, is high blood pressure, that is controlled by medication my Dr. has prescribed for me.
I had a complete check of my heart last year, including EKG, stress test and ultra sound to check operation of valves. All tests showed no problems.
I am still working and try to keep my life as stress free as possible. As I believe stress is one of the most harmful things to a person's health. I don't let the little things bother me.
