I believe this was a trumpet mouthpiece... Holding it and looking at it the thing surely doesn't look this scratched up... However under the watchful eye of the camera it surely looks different...
65 images combined in Zerene Stacker. This has never been used...

Those are typical swirls left from manufacturing. A horn mouthpice is built for function. They’re not works of perfect art for photographs. Bach makes fine horn mouthpieces of high quality with variable designs for many different horns. Good stuff. It’s not worth a fortune but is a quality piece. Nice imaging you did, too.

Nice job thinking outside the box for this image, very cool.
Maybe you have the next 007 tagline, “Brushed, not Scratched”.

Quite a while ago I was in the plant doing a service call on a lathe that made that mouthpiece... That is the reason I have a couple... Unfortunately I was unable to obtain samples of some of the military stuff I was involved in manufacturing... I worked for Cincinnati Milacron for most of my career...

Thanks much for stopping in and your comments...

Love your sense of humor... It was fun doing... I did the inside of an orchid on my previous post... Cold weather here all winter so have to find things to photograph indoor... Got a few projects in the works...

I know nothing of those other products you mention. However when younger I played King horns and used Bach mouthpieces. They were fine accessories.

Could you post a single image taken at f32 so I can see the difference. I don't really understand the fascination with stacking if you can do the same with a single image

Number one with f32 you would not be able to get the whole image in focus... That is the reason people take a series of slices to make the whole image in focus...
Number two I have all ready taken the whole set up down...sorry about that.
Maybe next time I can post both... Also at that small of an an Fstop the lens will not be as sharp as the lens is at it's sweet spot... usually that will be in the area of F8 give or take a few stops... I was only about 6 inches from the subject which makes the lens even at F32 very short depth of field... This was shot at F8 as you can see not much but the lettering is in focus... Hope this explanation helps...

#Metoo! I had a fugly King cornet in a bunch of Conn trumpet players. You could HEAR me!
I still have my Conn 90g Trombonium, from my college days. Ohio State got the first 18, I have #23.
Simichrome will polish the mouthpiece without damage,
