I am re-investing myself into learning about photography again, and look forward to improved results with my images.... My history has been with Olympus OM-1 and OM-2 film cameras and a small selection of Zuiko lenses, (still keep them hidden in the closet and don't know why). I have been reading almost all the new topic posts here and find them often beyond my knowledge base but just as often, very helpful.
I started in digital with a basic DSLR, Olympus E-500 with mixed results. Light sensor is so limited compared to what is out there today and Olympus menus not intuitive for me to get comfortable with....I also quickly fell into the trap of creating many exposures with very little thought, (dont have to pay to develop so more is better).
Welcome to the forum.

Well, I was about to say that the most overwhelming part of todays digital world is investing the time to learn the software related to digital images. I spent some time with photoshop, learned the basics of layering etc, and quickly discovered that if you don't use your knowledge, it is easily lost.....
Now, I would like to get more serious and my first visit to Sedona Az, South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park is coming up soon..... cant wait to see how limited my skills are.... I am going to post a few questions in the main forum and if you see me there with questions that are too basic and should post them elsewhere, I will appreciate your direction...

They say relearning a skill is like sex. It may have been a long time ago and you may have forgotten a lot of techniques, but it’s just so much fun that you don’t care about the things you forgot and are actually looking forward to learning them again!
Bring a couple cards. Take a LOT of photos.
I rather delete a few than miss a few.
Welcome GC and I too had many years of indecision about taking photos without much forethought and I was glad to see that you wrote this. Now I don't think twice, I just take the camera everywhere, regardless and never give it a thought because without it I ain't getting any pictures at all.
I'll leave the judgments to others. Good Luck
