Sorry to go. I have found that there are too many grouchy rude people on this forum. There are also many who are willing to help an aspiring photographer. Unfortunately sortig out the helpful from the FF is the only way, and it better be Nikon fan boys has become more effort than the value of the knowledge I have gained here. The admins should really do a better job of reprimanding the ones who attack users for their questions. Many newcomers ask questions that have been asked before only to be shredded by the intolerable few. Sometimes newcomers don't understand how the forum works or the questions to ask. Some don't want to spend hours "googling it". They just want an answer from respected pros, too bad the respect doesn't go both ways

I hope this is the worst thing that will happen to you. There is a saying in The Marine Corp. Adapt Overcome and Percervere. Don't be so hasty. Not the end of the world if you get your feathers ruffled a little bit. Hang tough. Everything is not a mountain.

If you are truly “sorry to go”—-don’t go.
Excuse my bluntness.

I also find it dis-heartening to see the rude answers, but I have learned to just click on and enjoy the helpful and experienced posted answers. This forum is like what you encounter in real life situations, you don’t necessarily agree with everyone you meet in your daily life, but you just ignore them and learn from the people that appear to be helpful.
Just hang in here and continue to grow.

Can't take the rude old dogs anymore? Yes it's hard sometimes. And it's true you have to have a thick skin sometimes to participate here. And it's unfortunate that a few bullies ruin it for many. Why give them the satisfaction of chasing you off when you could stay and learn from many of the knowledgable people willing to help?
I have found Google to be extremely helpful. And sometimes Google can answer your question quicker than asking on the forum.
Try participating in the smaller groups here instead of the general forum before you quit. It is quite a bit more user friendly. You might decide to stay :)

Well yes and no. People in real life situations aren't so willing to attack in person :(

Here's another way to look at it.....don't take any stuff personally. At the end of the day if you get the answer you're looking for what does it matter what others think, you found your answer. You will likely never meet any of those critics and even if you fell over them you'd likely never know who they were. As an old guy, I learned a long time ago not to take myself so seriously. People will always be people which means you're bound to run into those you like and those you don't. I hope this helps. Don't give up just because you run into a tough response.
Good luck!

You know, some of us are quick to offer a snarky comment to our fellow hoggers in the political section, but sincerely review and comment on those same folk's submitted photographs or questions. So if someone blasts my political perspective, I don't get my feathers ruffled. You know what they say about opinions....

But I do agree that when someone asks a question that to some of us is simple, we should either offer a sincere answer or just keep our mouths shut.

For those who don't know, Wabbit was one of the nastiest members of the Hog. He was banned several years ago for extreme rudeness and copyright infringement.
"We got a jumper" was one of his more intelligent outbursts - quoting this under the circumstances that created this thread is just not funny.

If you can't handle the ruder folks here, be sure to avoid: dating, marriage, military service, political office, business, religion, and just about everything else in life. You won't be able to handle them, either. Maybe come back...when you are back on your meds, or over your Manic-Depression, or have grown up a bit. If you deal with humans much, rudeness will often be the least of your problems. It's not right, it's not pleasant, but it is life...which means that (for most) it beats the alternative. Toodle Pip!

If your skin is that thin then quit!
If the knowledge you gain here is of less importance then a few "snarky" comments, then quit.
To me, quitters are losers.
