Mist Falling on Cedars
The attached photo is one of my personal favorites, pehaps because mist, fog, and filtered light is so mystical. But, photographing it is a challenge for me and I'm constantly experimenting. I'd like some constructive critisism on this picture. Go ahead, have some fun with it...I'm quite calloused! LOL... Thanks

I like this....maybe a B/W version would really pop if done right.
Like it the way it is...don't know about the challenge, the main thing is to be there whenthe atmosphere is right at the right time of day. Wondering at least, if you really wanted a star burst where the light is coming from, which would require f/16 or f/22 aperture. Many digital cameras (the small censor variety) can't get an aperture that small, and then again you may have that capability but chose to use a wider aperture, and i like it this way too.B&W would be nice but the hint of color for realism and being there is my personal preference, just not a fan of B&W,not that it wouldn't work well here though.Dry summer, wish i could see this sort of moisture in any style or exposure choice,so thank you for being there and at the right time.

I agree now that iv'e worked on this....color is much better....heck I wouldn't mind printing this one.
Thank you all for your comments... I did not look at it in B&W, but worth a try... Bret, I'm flattered!.. Jenny, like WOW! I'm a real neophyte and that went right over my head. However, the issues you bring up are the same that I am trying to understand. Yes, I was trying for the starburst effect, so was lucky there. Here are some settings I used:
f stop:f4
1/125 sec.
focal length: 70 mm
max aperture 4
landscape mode ( Sony alpha 290 camera/ Tamron 70-300 zoom lens)
I took this shot at various settings so will look at the others and possibly learn something from them... Again, thank you all
BTW, I spotted a Piliated woodpecker that same morning but couldn't "get him".

it's so nice it stopped my breathing!
I absolutely love the photo, that being said I find the brightness of the top of the photo too bright to view, if you crop it down to just below that I think you might have what you're looking for - erethal. (Hope I spelled that right.) Keep working and submitting photos - you have much talent to share. :)
Thanks Rider Fan... These nice remarks are giving me confidence
Thank you fhayes... As mentioned, I often work at this type of photo. Still lots to learn in the world of photo-ing but am gaining confidence
mahma, many thanks... The "sunburst" seems to be a distraction for many people. I refuse to alter my pics with Photoshop so am having to find ways to accomplish my goals by other means. You remark is well appreciated...

First time I saw a sunburst shot, I was on a train traveling from Munich, Germany to Frankfurt, Germany. One of my friends shot it and I didn't understand what he was doing, at about 6 a.m. and hung over, I didn't understand much anyway. When he made the print it was a different story, the sun beams shot through the clouds and it was a beautiful photograph. I don't usually say photograph unless something just knocks me over with it's beauty!
