Monday morning at the fishing ponds

After waiting for weeks for some real snow, it finally came. I decided to go out and photograph the fresh snow. I donned my arctic winter wear(it was -4F) and went out to the fishing ponds to get pictures of a few places I had scouted a few months ago. I took a lot of shots, I couldn't see the live screen because the sun was bright, so I really didn't know what I had. I got home and checked every one was out of focus. I realized my dumb mistake and had used the matrix focus, instead of the spot focus. I had perfect shots of the snow but everything else was worthless. I went back Monday morning and redid my shots. I still couldn't see the live screen, but I was confident that my new D5600 would be up to the task. It exceeded my expectations.

The first picture is almost straight out of camera, I opened the shadow area some and a little straightening
The second is an HDR. I used 1/2 stop brackets and combined them in After Shot 3 Pro.
The pond picture is pretty much SOOC except for straighening, I used the middle exposure in the brackets.

#1 looks slightly yellow. Compare the snow color to #3. This is really minor but I think it is worth fiddling around with. Of the three, it's my favorite shot. #2 is way off. Look at the snow on the lake. It's noisy and off color and sort of blah. I don't know what went wrong there. The foreground in #2 doesn't really draw your eye to the background but, instead steals focus. It doesn't really do anything for me. I would play with #1 some more and I think you will have a winner.

These were taken nearly at sunrise. The yellow cast is what I saw. The 3rd was some time later when the sun was higher in the sky. I will take your suggestions and maybe apply them to something else.
