I have set the Image Review time to 5 seconds, and usually it does display the taken image for that duration. However sometimes after a shot the monitor only displays the taken image for less than a second, then goes black for several seconds, then shows the normal settings (aperture, ss, iso, etc.) screen you get when you depress the shutter button.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Change the display time and see if that makes a difference. I have the display turned off on my cameras. I find it distracting, and it does use some battery power. If I want to check the image, I can just press the arrow.
"Sometimes" isn't good. If it gets to "usually," contact Nikon.
Sometimes the lightest touch of the shutter button is all it takes to cancel the review mode. The next time you shoot make sure your index finger is completely clear of the shutter release and see what happens.
