I don't find it strange but that is because I live close enough that I am able to go to the store (35 miles away). The owner is almost always there and is a an honest, ethical, truly nice man and it sets the tone for the rest of the business. I've bought too much gear there, traded things in, taken different classes and I get excited when my wife says, "I'd like to go to Indy Saturday, do you want to go to Roberts while we're in town?". It's a great place to shop or hang out - all great people.

I don't order anything from B&H or Adorama anymore because I want Roberts to be there when I need help.

I agree, but I have seen even B&H slammed on this blog, last time the guy did not get his package on time, but the group did a nice job supporting B&H. also,

I have purchased and went to their classes for years, and like I said I have seen them give talks and Demo’s at the clubs in Indy, including the owner, love to see the local club support..

You are correct he is there most of the time, that I visit also, but he always seems to let Walt stay late, and lock up on class night,,

Roberts is the best you can do for quality and service . They stand by what they sell.

Yes, I have bought several items from them, and they are great to deal with.
They have an outlet on eBay.

I know camera users from another forum and many of the users have made purchases from Robert's. I have never heard any of those users speak negatively of Robert's.

Based on these replies and a little research I bought the Sony DT 16-50 for $275. They rated it as excellent condition and it is truly excellent. No box but so what. This is an $800 lens new and essentially that is what i received. Very pleased.

I purchased a Pentax SLR in person from them in 1979 and a Canon lens in person from them in 1995. Recently I sold some EF-mount lenses to them via ‘mail order’. I have never ever had a problem with them.
