One simple question:
Can anybody look at Photo or Image and without knowing metadata to tell if it was shot with full frame, APS-C, or any other sensor, and focal length of the lens (wide, normal, macro or zoom...) been used?
Thanks for your response.

Not to be snarky or anything like that, but why would it matter if an image was produced in one format or another or at any particular focal length lens? I’m truly curious about that because when I look at an image if I think about what equipment was used it is only of passing interest.

I don't want ro put words in someone's mouth but this maybe an attempt to help him decide what type of camera to purchase. Personally I don't think you can look from that prospective but from how you want the camera to perform(what it's going to be used for).

When I see a good photograph I would like to know the tech. data. So, I try to get the information from the photographer.
Sometimes it makes a good, friendly communication from there on.

I've never seen close up bird shots with cell phone cameras.

You're assuming that the photo is being viewed on the computer. Blow up the photo in print to 20x30 and you might get a different answer.

Format of image, no.

Focal length, yes, more or less.

When I look at images, I might be mildly interested in the sensor format or camera model used, IF I think I might be able to use that sort of gear for a similar application.

Sometimes, the format matters... Other times it really doesn't. Most of the time, I don't really know, need to know, or care. I do know why I use what *I* use, and it has little to do with sensor size. There are too many other factors to consider!

Sometimes. A traveling photo exhibit came thru town here about a year ago. Most of the images were about 4 feet by 5 feet in size or larger and absolutely beautiful and tack sharp. They were taken with a Phase One and I guarantee that you could tell they were not shot on any crop frame camera. I'm not sure just how much one has to enlarge prints to tell the difference between crop and full frame, probably quite a lot.

Maybe not, but it does track with Jerry's comment.

I have either - yet. But I know that it can be done. Probably the best chance would be a window feeder.
