City of Big Shoulders and Hog butcher of the world...
I am in Chicago for a quick visit with some relatives. Had to take advantage of the opportunity to get a shot of the Chicago Skyline. This was taken last night at 8:30 p.m. It was 6 degrees at the time of the shooting.
Lake Michigan was frozen and made what I thought was a pretty good foreground.
Nikon D810 with 24-70 lens. Focal length 40mm, ISO 100, Shutter 20 seconds and F5.6
I didn't need more DOF since the skyline was at infinity and with the focal length at 40mm my closest foreground object was still in focus.
Please use the download.
Thanks for looking.

Helluva shot! My first inclination would be to crop out some of the foreground to get more of a panorama. But.... doing that would take away from a really striking reflection. Bravo Zulu!

For a Floridian, your intestinal fortitude and resistance to almost zero temps paid off. A beautiful image. What were your settings?
Thanks.

I thought about cropping some of the foreground, but right now I like the look of the cracked ice and the reflections. I did crop some off the top. Let's see what everyone else thinks.

What a beautiful skyline Chicago reflective shot .., it always helps the viewer when the camera/lens info etc is attached ...
Beautiful shot. I just hope you had time for some pizza while you were there.

Thanks. For me it is always about getting an image. I'll endure a great deal if I believe that I can get a good image. Thus I went into the cold...

Thanks for the compliment. I edited my original post to include camera data.

Of course! Other than the Cubs, why else would you go to Chicago?
OK, maybe to get a photo like this.
Thanks for looking.
I would be inclined to crop to a 2 to 1 ratio, with the green stripe of the shore centered and straightened.
