No.2 is the ace here. I'm no monochrome expert but I think a little tweaking will show this even better.

Some thoughts: of course they fit the category; these all work well. Though I’m a fan of black and white in this category, the first photo is simply excellent because it has everything going for it--composition, simplicity, story-telling, I could go on. It’s one I wish I had taken.

I agree! One tip, more room in front of the expectant mother, I feel that's it's a little tight for good context and you really don't need that much staircase even though that's important too. This is a great story shot. Who is she calling? Where's the father? Is she in trouble? So much from one simple shot-well done! Keep up the good work!
