My daughter and son-in-law love New Orleans and have been there several times although not at Mardi Gras. Looks like your daughter-in-law is having a good time with the appropriate fashion accessories and, of course, the ubiquitous smart phone in her hand. I hear Millenials are having their phones surgically attached to their hands to prevent dropping them the few seconds they look up to see where they are.

You are most correct on her phone. I tease her saying she is going to grow permanent skin attached to it. In her defense she has 2 teenage daughters she is constantly getting pics of with it. She downloads and catalogues them. I know some who are traditional photogs fret over this phenomenon but I think it’s wonderful. She will have many more memorable recordings of them than I did of ours. Will they be works of art? No. But she will have a complete record of their growing up I know she will cherish later in life. She is also a devout Catholic, so Fat Tuesday is a big deal as they will be quite strict about Lent. Just a fun moment.

Being from New Orleans I can say with experience that Mardi Gras can be a great time. Just be aware of what is going on around you and don't get off the beaten path alone.
