Research vessel Investigator

This ship has been on a research voyage for around 50 days in the Ross Sea, off the Antarctic coast, south of Tasmania.
On board were 40 scientists plus crew of 21. Their mission was to research Whales & their food, Krill.
There were many peripheral reseasearches around the prime one.
The ship had a live view camera on front of wheel house which I followed the voyage through.
Much of the time was uninteresting since the cam was fixed Forward, but in iceberg country there was some majestic images present.
My other means of tracking their voyage was via their website with a Near Realtime Update Data NRUD, facility, which displayed their position almost live.
I also had a mate on board who sent me pics almost daily, of some of the activities. I can't presume to show them here without permission.
Today they are almost back to Hobart & home, but I kept a record of this voyage without suffering the minus 5-10 degrees C.
I've followed this beautiful looking ship via Marine Traffic, for a while now. It's the pride of Australia's marine research infrastructure, in CSIRO. Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation.

...beautiful...Antarctica has fascinated me since reading the book Endurance...about Ernest Shackleton’s attempt of the first land crossing of the Antarctic continent...has the iceberg twice the size of New York City broken off the ice shelf yet...?

Truly love the topic and the pics. Plan to look into finding more information about all they cover in what must be their many research projects. My husband is the photographer, newly into status but he loves it. As wife, l admit to total admiration of all his efforts. I just very much love the sea, whales, ships, ice bergs, and whales and oceans and ships....sorry, seem to be repeating myslf! Thanks for listening and mostly for sharing. Maggie Cat
