Help needed: How to convert Sony ARW files to Tiff files in Adobe Lightroom CC

I have used been using the old Lightroom and the new Lightroom CC both for a few months. When I want to export my Sony ARW files the only option I see is JPG. There has to be something I am missing. How can I convert the ARW file to a Tiff file?

After you develop the image, go to the grid view in Library mode and click on Export. Go through all the choices and find the tif choice

You can always create a new preset for 16 bit full resolution TIFF. It's easy and one of LR's most powerful features - being able to create stuff like that on the fly

The new Lightroom (cloud) CC doesn't make TIFFs. Lightroom Classic (desktop) makes TIFFs by using the Export sequence or doing an Edit in Photoshop if the preference is set to TIFF.

Another reason not to use CC.

Didn't know that. Wow! It makes sense - some of my TIFFs can be 600 mb - which would take hours to upload/download. My internet is fairly snappy on download at 200 Mbps, but only 20 Mbps on uploads. I miss my Verizon FIOS.

rgrenaderphoto, Gene51 and mborn,

You might be missing something!

When (mobile) Lightroom CC was introduced under that name, there was discussion about using it, switching to it, being forced to use it and the potential demise of the (old) Lightroom Classic. The assumption was you had to pick one or the other. You should certainly not use both.

It has either changed, was misguided or none of us understood.

The two Lightrooms and Photoshop interconnect. By taking advantage of that, our selection of tools and capabilities increase. We retain everything we know and use about the old Lightroom Classic and get a new set of tools that give us leverage over what some "cloud" storage can add.

In other words, there is a reason the $10/month Photographers Plan has Photoshop CC, Lightroom CC, Lightroom Classic, Portfolio, Spark, Bridge and cloud storage for about 4,000 JPEGS. They all come as an interconnected, bundled unit that work together to provide us options to do whatever our imaginations provide.

One quick example.... You can pick a dozen or so images, work them up to the finest TIFFs, sync them to (mobile) Lightroom CC and create a tidy "gallery" with a link. Share that link via email, text, forum or even voice. Your viewer can then see your collection on any or all devices they might own without being distracted by any other images. If one of your viewers suggests a crop or other such "improvement", you can do it in Classic while they watch on their phone.

If you are paying your $10 a month, it makes no sense to say "I use this one or that one." You should be considering, "I use them all, depending on my needs".
