Beautiful image, Paul!
Thanks Corky. As to the scene the thing you can’t tell is that uphill from this spot there a spring. This time of year, April, there’s about 3 to four inches of water that’s not visible below the grass you see. So sloppy, slippery going and you can’t wander around without wrecking the view of the grasses. By summer it will be dry except for a narrow band of mud in the middle of the meadow.
This is in a 209 acre county park/arboretum dedicated to preserving the savanah environment. Most of it, that stretched 40 miles by about 100 miles has been lost to development and farming. This is the exact geographic area where travelers using the Oregon Trail we heading, seeking the fine soils for outstanding farming. Vehicle traffic is prohibited in the park. Foot or horseback only. We live most of the year about 10 miles north of this park.

Sounds as beautiful in your description as your image was, Paul and such a shame places such as this are being destroyed and many times only remnants still remain, and so many people seem to not care are even notice.
