Look What Wandered in Across the Street

I was in the back of the house doing a project when I heard the dogs going insane over something. I got up and went into the living room and discovered this moose across the street treating itself to a mid morning snack in the neighbor's front yard. I grabbed my A6300 and put the 55-210 zoom on it and snapped a few. You don't dare walk up on a moose to get a good picture of it unless you can run faster or don't believe a moose will charge. They get mad easily. This one looks like a yound cow moose. And when she was done she wandered across the neighbor's front yard and down the street.

Good series. Are you sure that there's a road there?

Pretty sure. I've lived here for 7 years, and there's always been a street there. It's even paved, too. :) The zoom lens eliminates the street.

Delightful series, brings to mind a cow and calf we saw in downtown Homer, a few years ago.

This isn't unusual up here. A few years ago I was up at our daughter's house and she had a big cow moose on her back deck. She opened the door and the moose stuck its nose in. We closed the door quickly as it would not do to have a moose inside the house. Just one of the joys of living in Alaska.

Thanks for the reminder, it's been a few years, I think I'm starting to forget Alaska. It's a good thing I'm going up again this summer.

The moose amaze us. Every once in awhile on will just show up. Had one in our back yard a couple years ago. And we're just on the edge of downtown Wasilla.

Nice series Greg. That last one is a hoot. I can almost hear someone inside saying: "Honey, can you get the front door; the Big Brown Moose is here"? (Not so subtle UPS reference).
