This has been a nice "trilogy." I didn't see any rams at all when I visited VoF.

Thanks, everyone. I got very lucky, when I was there. But many people drove right by me and the rams, not even noticing them - they unquestionably blend in, very easily. I got there before dawn and stayed in a place I had seen them once before. I could hear them before I saw them. I just stayed put and they literally came toward me, I think not seeing me as a threat because of how still I was. I went to the Visitor's Office to warm up, because it was windy and cold, and I was not dressed for just standing out there as I did. The Ranger told me that no one had seen any of the rams for three weeks! Again, very lucky.
