I found this article this morning rather interesting considering the gloom and doom articles I have been reading. It shows one place Canon is going to keep themselves relevant in the consumer camera market.

It will be interesting to hear the replies from the DSLR-only crowd. The first one looks a lot like a cell phone-hmm.

I want a camera with an Android operating system that will run things like Snapseed, Photoshop Express or Lightroom mobile and connect to the cellular network.

In my experience with Canon, working for another division, I find they do not expose something unless they intend to release it.
It may take a different form, however I expect they will release all of this.

Unlike the article indicated about the car companies, Canon does not expose "technical exercises". This could be marketing floating these to see how popular they would be.
