Because there are two very closely related species, the Lesser and the Greater, Jerry, and it is difficult to tell the difference between them! Corky

"Scaup?" Who comes up with these names? Looks like a black and white duck to me, and without seeing a "greater", is there another way to know it is a "lesser"? Great photo!

I have no idea. I looked it up in my book and it looked like it matched the description.
