Ain't life a hoot! Not only did you enjoy yourself, you created something beautiful. Keep on loving it, and sharing it. Nicely done.
Nice one. Enjoy the journey!
The focus and colors on this image are wonderful. I suggest a few additional actions:
1) Crop even closer. You have the sharp details and pixels to crop this image to 100% keeping just the butterfly and thistle heads with the butterfly positioned at the upper 1/3 intersection of the frame.
2) Get closer, physically and / or via the zoom. The image reports 126mm on a 70-300 zoom. Put the largest image onto the sensor possible. So, when your crop into the resulting 6000x4000 file (point #1) you have pixels enough to have a large file that doesn't need to be cropped from the 100% view.
3) Watch your aperture as you zoom above 200mm. The file reports the 70-300 IS II at f/5.6. Great results for wide open!! Canon should contact you for this image for the marketing team supporting this lens.
Typically, zooms covering the 70-300 range will get a bit softer at the maximum zoom when wide open and stepped down to f/8 will provide better results. I don't have this lens so I defer to your results and experimentation at increased zoom levels.
Excellent image. I agree with Paul. Get closer. Enjoy your new journey.
