D5500 Transfer Cord

I purchased a used Nikon D5500 which did not include a transfer cord to download files to my PC. I've been using the cord from my wife's D3200 which works fine, but we're selling that camera and its cord.
Amazon has several inexpensive options but I have no idea about quality or reliability. Seems to be a pretty basic function; what can go wrong? Any recommendations? or which ones should I avoid?
Thank you for your usual excellent advice.

Another option to consider is a card reader that is compatible with the ones used by the D5500. That way you might not need another cord if you upgrade or change cameras in future. It would be prudent to check whether the card reader is okay with the size and speed of card that you're using before buying one.

The Nikon manual doesn't seem to identify the port type, but the cord model UC-E6 is identified as a USB2.0 Mini B, a pretty standard cord that probably came with many types of USB-enabled equipment you've purposed over the last 4+ years. I'd check my 'cord drawer' and see if I had this type of USB cable already, before ordering a new one.

As mentioned before, buy a card reader. I have a built in one in my Mac, but none in my pc. I bought a card reader for the pc. I think transfer time is faster than using a cable.

It's a very standard cord, but there can be a big difference in quality. I shoot photos with Santa at a local mall, and have switched to cables from Tether Tools. They are excellent quality cables

I have used the usb cord to tether my camera to the monitor. Somewhere, I read that Nikon cables are wired different that the usual USB cables. There are other compatible cables however. Never use the cable to transfer the files, I just put card into the computer slot and go from there.

That's familiar as I remember that most of us have 10 or more of those various cables in a drawer or plastic bag from previous adventures with audio & video gear that has left us long ago.

Those suckers seem to outlive us.

Mine is left over from my D 5100. I use it to tether my D7200 to Lightroom when i am doing tabletop photography. And yes it was in my cord draw forever , before I used it.
