The Disturbed remake, as others have noted, somewhat elevates the original 'warning' of Simon and Garfunkel's original to an angry critique of a warning not heeded. Paul Simon has actually been quoted as saying that after the Disturbed cover, the song is no longer 'his', and said so lovingly.
Love it or not, Draiman's vocal covers a range of both vocal and emotional dimensions. I for one deem the remake to be superior in all ways musical, with the original winning out or its original message, and for delivering the message in a time where darker lyricism was not often appreciated.
