We were in a hurry to get back for the ferry, so I could not stick around to find out how they were used.
The picture was taken on the way back from Noirmontier in the Bendee region.

They are fish nets I believe... the little houses will have the fishers inside operating the nets, lowering and rising...
I think they are fishing huts.
The net is lowered to rest on the bottom of the slough for quite awhile. Periodically, the net is quickly raised, catching any bottom-feeding fish or crustacean that crawled onto net.
