Different View Balanced Rock

I believe this is not your everyday photo angle of Balanced Rock. The off-set is striking. Also, the middle portion of the rock is a different type than the top and bottom. It would be nice to go back a few hundred thousand years to see how it looked then; how it formed, etc. The photo does not do it justice. If you ever make it to Utah, Arches NP is a must see.

Great shot. I was told by one of the rangers that there was another balanced rock several years ago in the same vicinity and it collapsed. This is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

The visitor's center explained the long processes, the remnant underlying salts, and the distant Salt Mountains. The story is some 65 million years in the making.
For sure, fascinating.

Thanks for the kind comments. Balanced Rock is amazing. I have made two trips to Arches NP and have spent more time a this location than any other. Just sitting there and taking in the view doesn't grow old.
