Pretty close to "Death", I think . . . .
I'm certainly not near Death, and I the pictures I take satisfy me.

Santa Claus will never die.
Hopefully I'm not "exposed too far to the right" (ETFTTR)!
I think there needs to be added:
"Got first tripod in bundle w/camera lenses, filters, cleaning kit, yada, yada"
"Bundle tripod was short/flimsy/broke... replaced with $35 tripod"
"$35 tripod broke, replaced with $50 tripod"
"$50 tripod broke, replaced with $75 tripod"
"$75 tripod broke, replaced with $125 tripod"
"$125 tripod broke, replaced with $250 tripod"
"$250 tripod too heavy, replaced with $500 carbon fiber tripod"
"Upgraded to $1000+ carbon fiber tripod and head I should have bought in the first place. It would have cost less AND been a whole lot less frustrating!"

Based on your tragic tripod history, I'm not so sure I'd be willing to lend you mine.

I’m afraid (and chagrined) that these curves look pretty familiar 😩

Neat, Dirt … a lil convoluted, though, don'tchathink?
I got my first tripod in 1972 … it's a Velbron - I think … cheap, but, it does the job - still have it.
Got my second one, a lil while later - to keep in the car. It's a GPD … French … nice and light.
When I opened my studio, I got a Bogen 3050, with a dolly. Massive thing - just what I needed for the RB.
My favorite - and, therefore - most used, though - is the GPD … it's easier to set the tabs, than on t'other.

Hilarious and spot-on. My problem is I'm still using the $250 tripod. As for the chart, I like to think I'm on the dashed blue line heading north completely off the chart.
Great tripod now, trying to cheat death!
Where am I? I don't know.
Where I'm at is easy, who I am (photographically)? Now that will take more than a line graph to figure out.
I'm somewhere between Photoshop and finding my old film camera (Nikon FM). But I can't get the 35mm film to load into Photoshop - isn't that what they mean by a "raw" file? I'm still confused...

I was at a seminar many years ago, I believe it may have been George Lepp. I remember a statement that was made.
"Every photographer will own at least 3 tripods and 4 camera bags before they own the one they really should have purchased in the first place."
