Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and on a steep learning curve. My camera is sony a6500. My problem is when I transfer images to my smartphone, sometimes the images get blurry in the smartphone. Even though they were in good focus in Camara. This is a new camera. Recent smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S9.

Sounds fishy... if clear and good focus in camera, should be clear and in focus on phone or computer. Did you check the image on a computer?

Are you transferring the original image, or a reduced size JPG that might end up blurry due to reduced resolution?

I would check that you are transferring the original image at the full size of the image - check the image on a computer display vs the phone display and try to eliminate variables.... maybe the issue is the phone or the size of the image, or possibly any processing done in camera on the transferred image.

Dngallagher , thank you for responding. Just starting photography. Don't have a PP app or dedicated computer. Yet . However, after further attempts , it seems that this happens when battery in Camara gets below 35 percent. I'll keep an eye on it . Thank you again.

It may be that for some reason, with a low battery you are only getting the small preview image from the camera, which would be postage stamp size basically and not have the resolution you would expect.

Or, there is a setting in camera or phone that is reducing the image size that you are transferring to reduce time and battery use.

Perhaps . Waiting for Sony rep to come to our local outlet. Another person told me he has the same problem when his wife sends him pics from her iPhone to his Samsung. So that's another lead to investigate . Also , maybe something with wifi. Since it has to disconnect from the house wi-fi and reconnect to Camara built in wi-fi.

Double check your manual for capabilities and limitations of NFC, if that is the means you are using for the transfer. That process uses a unique technology & protocol, and is typically slower than other methods. Make sure that you are not interfering with the transfer by moving th4e camera or phone too quickly, leaving only a thumbnail as successfully transferred.

That is normal. The camera creates it's own wifi network, then your tablet/computer/phone connects to it.

For me, my Canon 80D gets set up with wifi on, then I connect to it from my computer/tablet or iPhone to transfer images or control the camera.

NFC, as you mentioned is different.... bringing the camera and phone together creates a Near Field Communication link to transfer data.... when moved apart the link is broken... My 80D has NFC capability, but my iPhone does not use NFC for camera connections.

My thoughts would still be the full size image is not getting sent, so you end up with a teeny tiny preview.

Thank you everyone for your responses. This has been very helpful and timely. Bought this Camara to take to Europe for extended vacation. Have to travel light . No tripods, computers or extra gear . The phone is the most portable and I can share pics with family and friends and social media. Would like them to be quality photos.
