Your most welcome, I'm a Colorado native, lived there for 65 years.

Wow! You're a lucky man. I'm an Arkansas native who just plain outgrew the Ozarks but it took me 40+ years in places like England, Mississippi, Florida, and Texas to figure out where I wanted to be when I grew up 40 years ago, the length of time I've been here. I wasted half my life figuring out that I like real mountains that I can shinny up and watch the hurricanes on one side and the earthquakes on the other and enjoy a cool breeze and a drink of fresh cold stream water before the usual contamination gets in it. I sure would like to have that first half of my life back because there's some things that just seem to get a little more difficult with each passing year. Still, I'm not complaining.

Yep, me too gessman, I was an avid rock climber and mountain climber (summited all 52 of the 14ers), I jeeped all over the mountains and off-road raced as well. Now, at 80 our daughter and g'kids lived here in Colville WA, so we moved up here to be with them. This area is beautiful, only 9 miles to the Columbia River and 30 to Canada so I'm still surrounded by beauty! BTW I lived in Conifer Colo at 8040 feet for 35 years, loved it, we had a Wolf sanctuary up there, aaah what a life!!

I've looked that part of the world over a little bit and know you're not hurting where you are. Lots of good fishing on the Columbia, for sure, or so I've heard. A good place to get outdoors from what I can tell. It sounds like you've squeezed a good bit more out of this place than I have but my best years for all that were pretty much past when I got here in '79. We moved from sea level straight up to 9800 ft. on the south side of Conifer Mountain, "Kings Valley," so we were neighbors and didn't know it. Pretty thin air for a 25 year pack a day Camel smoker. LOL. Didn't take long to figure out what to do about that. It's sure changed a lot, this whole area, as I'm sure you are aware.

I was on the other side of hwy285, the road that goes up the hill across from the shopping center, is Pleasant Park Road, about 6 miles on that road is Silver Ranch Rd., my address was 20,000 SRR.
I knew Kings Valley, my daughter and her husband lived in a tepee up there for a year or so!
Quit smoking in '74 when my first wife died of lung cancer, age 34, woke me up because I smoked more than she did. And yes, I know the area has changed, it was changing when we left!!

Great shots, thanks for sharing. I grew up in Durango and have taken that trip many times and have never grown tired of it. We used to get off just below Silverton and backpack up into Weeminuche wilderness Area, a great trip up to Chicago Basin.

My pleasure. I think I could do that trip at least once a week. I've made the trip multiple times and haven't got enough of it yet. First time I did it my wife and I were in an RV and after we got back to Durango we went back up to Silverton and spent a week in the RV park there. We love the place and all the countryside around there.
