Yesterday, Saturday I purchased a Canon 400mm F5.6 L lens from KEH. They had a coupon code for 10% off and the code was honored. I called them to place the order instead of using the website.
Today, Sunday, I received an email indicating that items on a specific page would be given a 15% discount. They offered the Canon 300mm and 500mm lens. It stands to reason that If I didn't buy the 400mm lens Saturday, it would be listed as well.
Anyway, I shot them an email asking for the additional 5% off. If they could not accommodate, then please cancel the order. There was one on Ebay for $650 I was going to buy instead. I figured I would get a response either way on Monday.
Well to my surprise I received an email today, Sunday! It indicated that while the lens I bought wasn't included in the 24hr promo, they would honor the 15% discount! It didn't surprise me that they honored the 15%, what surprised me was that they did it late Sunday afternoon when they are closed!!
Cudo's to KEH and Thank You!
George
I have enjoyed doing business with them. They have been fair and very service minded in all my transactions with them. Doesn’t surprise me they gave you the 15 percent. Just saying....
George
I also had a very good experience with KEH customer service in the past.

Did you mean: kudos?
Kudos, yea right!
I was so excited, I lost control.....
Have bought and sold with KEH since the eighties, always have been satisfied.
I've purchased from KEH. Very Satisfied with the accuracy of the descriptions and price.

A couple/three years ago a KEH rep came to our local camera shop here in town. I sold them a couple film cameras but we couldn't agree on the Canon AE-1.
BTW, the camera store is no longer here. Bummer. I bought a lens for the AE-1 from them but not much else other than film. I don't buy a lot of camera equipment as it is. Most of what I have I got direct from Canon as refurbed equipment (a couple cameras and a few lenses).
for a extra 5% you would drop KEH for ebay , i just dont see the reasoning there .one is a camera store , the other ???? .we complain that brick and mortar camera store are failing , that is why .a lousy 5 %

For what amounted to a $100.00 difference, damn skippy I will.
After the additional 5%, the KEH price was still higher.
Lets look at the total picture:
Ebay Lens.
1- I see pictures of the item I would be purchasing
2- I have email proof of the seller indicating that there isn't any issue with the lens. This gives me protection should the lens have a problem and I need to return it.
3- I have the mfg date code, mfg in 2015
KEH Lens.
1- I have a professional rating of the lens
2- I have a no questions asked return policy from an established company.
3- I have a change in promotion that resulted in an additional $35.00 savings.
Due to the customer support from KEH on Sunday, I bought a Canon EF300 f/4 L lens from them yesterday as well.
By honoring the additional discount, they sold another lens.

I have never complained about brick and mortar camera stores failing. We are in an evolving sales environment. If you do not evolve, you fail. Fundamental to sales; listen to the customer. They will tell you how to sell to them. Many brick and mortar stores have not yet figured that out.
My total experience with local brick and mortar camera stores have been horrible. I have been treated like an idiot by sales people more interested in trying to impress me with how intelligent they are rather than listening to me.
I am a lot of things, however I am not an idiot. You may disagree and that is your prerogative.
I appreciate two things when I shop for anything:
1- Fair, competitive pricing
2- Customer service
Give me those two things and I will be a loyal customer.
KEH gave me those two things. Ebay and Amazon have as well. Frankly, so has Canon.
I rarely buy anything at a brick and mortar store, unless I need it immediately. I will then pay a premium for the convenience.
I purchase from a brick and mortar store whenever I can. usually the difference in price is the state tax and a few dollars. but the support is very good.
unfortunately there are only two in local metroplex that I know of.
Great news. I have referred some of my friends to get lenses from them. They were all satisfied customers.

Frankly,
The lenses could both turn out to be bombs and need to be returned, they have still impressed me with their customer service.
This is why I shared the story.
We moan and groan a lot when things go bad, they deserve the Kudo's (spelled it right this time) for doing it right.
