I saw this on face book today. As a father who lost two sons, I was touched by the message portrayed by the statue. I am not sure that I would want the boys mother to see it.

Very nice photo, sad. Do you happen to know where this statue is? Is it located in Western Washington?

Wow, that really does convey a message. I am so sorry for Your families loss. God bless You and your Wife. I lost My Wife in May of 2015 to cancer, and then 3 years later I lost My companion who rescued me after losing my Wife. She was an extremely affectionate silver shaded long hair white Persian cat who was always by my side, even in bed at night. Her purring was very comforting. That statue speaks to me being alone now.

It is called Melancolie. And it is heartbreakingly beautiful.

The artwork created by Albert György (living in Switzerland, but born in Romania) can be found in Geneva in a small park on the promenade (Quai du Mont Blanc) along the shore of Lake Geneva.

Having lost my son Nicholas in 2014 to a heroin overdose, this is a very accurate portrayal of how I've felt since that dreadful day.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your 2 sons. I know words cannot explain the anguish.

Thanks for posting.

Thank you all for your kind words. Artists who have the talent to create statues and even carve figures amaze me.

A most compelling statue. It certainly portrays the feeling.

Very touching. As the father of two grown daughters, I cannot fathom the pain of losing a child. My heart goes out to you.

As a parent who has lost a child, I would like to post this quote from Joe Biden, a parent who certainly knows the tragedy of loss...and which has brought me comfort. I mean nothing political in this.

There will come a day -- I promise you, and your parents as well -- when the thought of your son or daughter, or your husband or wife, brings a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye". "It will happen.” - Joe Biden (2012) described how he dealt with grief in an emotional speech for the families of fallen military service members at the 18th Annual TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar.
