Afghanistan, almost 20 yrs and we are still there? if we couldn't turn them into a stand alone kick ass army by now, then they are hopeless and it's a hopeless situation. do we really want to turn it into a 25 yr involvement? enough is enough god dammit.

The question is, "what about the rest of the terrorists that are still there"? Do we just pull out and let them continue to train and build and army of terrorists? To take over as much of the middle east as they want? Will we wind up returning later to finish what we started and will it be more difficult to do after they build up an army? or will it be easier to just keep them at bay now and stay on the offensive. There are a lot of unanswered questions on what we should do to protect freedom.

You do know how bad these people are don't you? You know how they treat the women? Children? Life?

I'm not saying that we should stay there. I'm just wondering what the right thing to do is.......

What’s interesting is apparently —- historically, no one has ever taken over Afghanistan.

So how do the taliban and all islamic terrorist bad guy groups do it.

I can't answer whether we should be there or not, but if we had been there before 911, there may not have been a 911. That would make it sound like "Hell yes we need to be there", but when you factor in all the lives that have been lost due to us being there, it's not so black and white.

Seems likely the opium industry will take care of itself.

If you want to rule a tribal area it probably helps to have members who are members of the tribes.

Special forces did just that. Then like vietnam, customary conventional military came in to fight a war that isn’t.

At least the British fought properly in Mayasia.
