Maybe because I don't own a Sony camera.... The lens I purchased was a 50mm Art for $750, probably the dealer, well known, trying to clear stock, it was at about $200 less than Adorama and B&H and it came as a combo with the MC-11 adapter for use on a Sony body. I researched the adapter prior to selling it on ebay so I actually only paid $600 for that lens brand new.... Pretty good deal, current lists for $950.
Several hundred dollars for a normal
lens is ALWAYS a good deal ... if the
buyer is happy with that.

I have the Sigma MC-11 and use it primailary with my Sigma 15-600mm C on my a7s and a6000. It works fine. I have lent the MC-11 to a student that has several Canon lenses and it works fine on her a7Rii. The MC-11 seems to work better than the non sigma adapter she was previously using. If you shoot primairly landscapes and not animals or sports then speed is not a big factor. Sticking with your Canon lenses will not be a problem. Native lenses will always be optimal. As always, Try befor you buy. Happy Shooting

I will be upgrading to full frame this summer and while doing research at my local camera store I looked at the Sony a7III, The sales guy said the Sigma adapter would work really well, "perfectly" with my Canon EF lenses .
Does anyone have any experience with this setup ?
I moved off Canon to Sony in 2013 and have used several autofocus adapters with Canon lenses. The Sigma MC-11 is very good. The MetaBones III & IV are reasonable. However, Canon lenses were meant for Canon bodies!
I have since been slowly selling off my Canon lenses and going with Minolta AF lenses using Sony's LA-EA4 adapter and truly love the combination of Sony full frame and Minolta's excellent glass. I do have two FE mount zoom lenses but now primarily use Minolta's AF 28mm f2.8, AF 50mm f1.4, AF 135mm f2.8, AF Macro 100mm f2.8, AF 28-135mm, f4-f4.5 and AF 500mm f8 reflex; all of which cost me less than one top of the line Sony FE lens and give very good performance and image quality. I'm a happy camper!!
I currently own a Sony A7S and A7R II as well as a RX10 III & IV, and did own an A7R and A7 II. At some point in the future I will probably acquire the A7R III.
Good luck in your review of Sony options.

I have an a7r2
Sigma adapter works pretty well with Canon fit, but not like native lenses. Period.

Why not just sell your Canon lenses and use that money for Sony glass?
2 reasons:
1) the glass won't fetch A high enough price compared to what the new glass would cost
2) I still plan on useing my 7D mk2
New does not always mean better. Works vs not working does.

several hundred for a lens that was $ 2000.00 doesn't make the seller happy at all
I just purchased a Sony A7RIII, along with the Sony FE 24-105mm lens and Sigma MC 11 adapter. I've just had an opportunity to use the Sony lens and the Canon EF 70-300mm with adapter. Both yielded excellent images. I chose this combination because I still intend to use my 6D MKII, as a wildlife and sports camera. The Sony is primarily for shooting landscapes. I plan to have my older 6D converted to b&w IR shortly.
