I have a D810 and use a Tamron 150-600 g2 with great success. Very sharp images and fast focus

Just bought the Tamron 150-600 G2 for my D810. How much recalibration did you have to do for your lens?

I have not had to do any, it is incredibly sharp
I have won five international awards with it

My wife and I have been traveling in India for about a month. Part of that experience has included 3 short "safaris", 1 into the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Rajasthan and 2 into the Kimbala National Reserve in Karnataka. On all three occasions, I was extremely fortunate to able to tag along with several small groups of professional and advanced amatuer wildlife photographers who freely shared their experiences. Nearly all were shooting either Nikon and Canon gear (2 Sony shooters).
In short, what I learned from the Nikon side:
1. 500mm was universally considered THE minimum standard for shooting wildlife
2. Same manufacturer Body/Lens combos produce significantly more keepers due to superior AF
3. Despite the Nikon 200-500mm NOT being gold ring, all the nikon guys liked it a lot, some were using it
4. Nobody used TCs. NOTE - probably because they could afford to buy what they wanted.
5. Everyone pretty much agreed Sigma and Tamron were making great stuff BUT the AF was not, quite
there. One was using a Sigma Sport 150-600 and he liked it a lot.
