There were Secret Service personnel all around President Reagan, James Brady, and Timothy McCarthy and all 3 of them were shot by John Hinckley, who shot them because he was in love with Jodie Foster.

The Secret Service is well armed and trained, and yet one gunman injured 3 people before he was subdued.

Who still thinks a school teacher can do a better job of taking out a crazed gunman than several Secret Service agents can?

I've maintained that arming teachers is a ridiculous idea. They lack training, discipline, and motivation to interject themselves in an active shooter situation.
The outcome that I would most expect to happen if we arm teachers is that either a teacher or a student will use the gun to shoot someone who should not be shot and that if an active shooter does present themselves, the teachers will simply revert to run, hide, fight..

Has completely to do with avoiding the perception of a soft target. Fact is none of them HAS to be armed for this to work, just the fact that some odd UNKNOWN number of them MAY BE ARMED means that a potential attacker, wanting to k**l as many as possible, has an unknown aspect to deal with. One teacher, two, all or some number in-between... where would you go?

Problem is, the coward attackers, will move on to another softer target... you know the ones snowflakes have created and averrtised as such- like the Aurora Theater gun-free-zone shooting, or an elementary school or even a high school, a military base that has outlawed firearms... Makes the attacker GOD - which is just where they want to be.

This unknown aspect very often stops an event before it is started, making no headlines- or because it doesn't fit the narrative- ignored by the media- a type of lie by omission. Like the theaters that were passed by in the Aurora Mass Shooter’s spree. He wanted to make mass casualties. In his own notes, airport was ruled out because of security. Read further on that he considered bombs, chemical and or biological. In the future, that is what mentally damaged people will turn to, gonna be hard to top the well documented and "celebrated" high numbers of dead to make their point in this way. In fact- the NEWS headlines enter into the problem- the criminal becomes famous, and in order to grab a bigger headline- he has to out-do the last shooting, but no culpability is admitted in this all important aspect- the NEWS needs to never publish a name, photo or numerical statistic... Failure to do this means that it flies in the face of their agenda, which has nothing to do with protecting the public.

Which brings us to the final point of mental health. If you are as chilled as i am in reading the pages below, you realize how do we fight minds that think like this WHEN THEY LIVE FREELY AMONG US!? Answer- well it isn't by laying down and begging, that makes it easy for guys like this to add to their K**l column. In the absence of mental health being addressed/institutionalized, it's by becoming "hard"... hard to k**l.

So tell me how circumventing a teachers constitutional right will prevent an addled mind intend on hurting innocents... Fact is, it will only really work with the least dangerous option... with the rest, it won't - nothing at all will, casualties will be astronomical... you will then all call for a ban on pressure cookers or propane tanks, matches or something, anything but what causes this.

Better hope they don't catch on...
