It’s a killer photograph. I like the composition

Thank you. I would have liked a tree or something to break the flat like of the horizon. But that is what most of the everglades looks----just flat.

WOW - what an excellent capture. Lady luck on your side, I think.

For sure. Once in helping me get the shot and a second time for letting me not get struck!
Thanks for looking.

The things I liked most are the cloud detail with all the finer fingers of lightening and the sea of grass which anchors the shot and makes it all very real.

I think you hit it perfectly. I needed a foreground to provide context. Then the fingers add some drama. I think there are at least two separate flashes over the 30 second. For sure the big one, but the ones on the right I'm pretty sure are secondary flashed over the length of the exposure.

Terrific capture Larry, beautiful cloud formation.

Thanks and I agree. These clouds have a bit of character all on their own.

I can feel the power in this storm!! No luck here. You worked hard to get this picture!

Thank you. Still I feel I lucky. I've tried this before and the lightening move too much from left to right and I missed it. This time the storm was coming straight at me and the flashes were mostly in the same area thus it was easier to catch them.

Wonderful shot! It's all in the clouds anyway, no need for more foreground. Did you use any filters, like ND or polarizer?

Thanks for looking. Yes, I used a 6 stop ND filter because it was not quite dark enough to get the long exposure without it. I also used my polarizer part of the time. Don't remember which shots the polarizer was on and off. I I added and subtracted it as the sun came in or out. The entire series was shot over about a 25 minute period.

Also, the lightening was mostly pretty high in the sky. I needed to angle the camera to get the height and that eliminated the extra foreground. But I think this looks OK with the limited foreground.

Your persistence paid off...terrific shot!

Thanks. Even a blind squirrel finds a few nuts! To make this work you need a good storm with lots of strikes. This time I was in the right place. :-)
