Winter Cardinal

One of my favorite winter residents! I have a family of 7 living in the brush in my backyard, 4 males and 3 females that always provide that flash of beautiful color in the otherwise drab winter.

Just simply beautiful. Cardinals are always very pretty birds and you captured this one very well.

Appreciate the comments! Properly saturated red is always a difficult color to render properly because of both sensor and software technology issues. The red in his chest feathers is still partially blocked up, but considering it is about a 200% crop, not too bad.....

Sharp. Focus is right on the eye which is very good. I think I would remove the arching twig above the bird. Can be seen as natural framing; but, to me, it is a bit of a distraction. Not a deal breaker by any means; but a tad distracting.

After following your suggestion, I believe I agree. Less busy, less distracting, good idea!

On rare occasions my suggestions do make some sense. lol I think this is an improvement. The key to the shot, of course, is the detail in the bird and that remains prominent and unchanged.
