I've never seen a black one before. Excellent capture. Perhaps if you would hold your finger beside it we would have a reference for it's size!

Thank you. They are around 6.5 inches, including the tail.
Next time I will borrow your finger for scaling purposes.

Guyserman: if you google "large black scorpion" you'll find all you want to know. Basically the large male can be as long as 9". Luckily humans do not usually react to the venom they inject (unless you're stung by an adolescent large black scorpion - they tend to get a little excited.

The Emperor Scorpion, Pandinus imperator grows to approx. 6.5 inches.
The one you are referring to is the commonly called Giant Forest Scorpion - Heterometrus Swammerdami.
Which has been recorded at 23 cm or 9 inches.

God shots!

“Best viewed in download” is certainly the safest way to view that critter!

Stan

I was close enough at around 12 inches or so.

The smaller the Scorpion, the more deadlier they are!

Wow. Looks like a crawfish with a stinger. We Cajuns could probably come up with a spicey recipe for them.

He doesnt look any friendlier in blue than black... We had scorpions in Hawaii, and centipedes, sometimes over a foot long.
