Regarding gloves:
Great grip, they have prevented a dropped camera several times.
I have also seen threads regarding outerwear for really cold days that allow one to keep camera close to body for warmth but easily accessed.
The silicone dry bags are excellent for cameras as they are much more flexible, similar in weight and feel to a sturdy plastic bag but re-usable. They are available at any REI, Cabela's or similar or online. It's a coating and does eventually break down but it takes years and is fairly obvious. There are also numerous manufacturers who make padded dry bags specifically for cameras. That's what I use and if you leave some air in there it'll float your camera too should it go in the water.
