Rain in the desert versus rain in Florida (I've lived both) - 3-6" of rain in Florida, just another day, 3-6 inches in the desert, flood city!!!!! Anywhere one builds, you have to pay attention to the topography, you never want to be in the path, or potential path, of water. Neighborhoods that are built in natural bowls are a recipe for disaster, and this one always kills, towns built below dams, on both sides of the river = what were they thinking? Guess they weren't!! Hey, its all good till the levee breaks!

Mostly here in Palm Springs it is just the roads getting washed out. Just down the road in Palm Desert they get homes flooded there all the time. Some of the homes are built in the watershed area. It is an elevated area, but also the naturally occurring course of the water in a heavy rain event.

Family joke, my father rowed in to put the down payment on the house!

I grew up in western Massachusetts in the hill country. When I was eight my mother, pregnant with my younger brother, was ready to give birth and we were in the midst of a snowstorm. My dad gathered us up, plopped my mom on the toboggan and we walked pulling her up and sliding down the hills to get to the town hospital 4 miles away.

Wow wind turbines and golf; wonder how the infrasound helped to lower the players scores??? How could people be so stupid as to allow a monstrosity of wind turbines to destroy their scenery, quiet, and pocketbooks. Repairing a golf course will be cheap in relation to what the wind turbines will cost in the end.....

They occupy the same dry riverbed, but there is a great deal of distance between them. Not that it matters with my hearing though. They’d have to be very close for me to hear it. Same with most of the guys on the links any given day. Yell ‘Fore’ and hardly anyone can hear you. At least they never turn to look.
Almost forgot, the land where the generators are belongs to the Indian tribes. They mostly do as they please on their land.

Its not the sound you hear; its what you don't hear; infrasound . Thats is why a lot of health problems develop around wind sites and it takes awhile to figure out why and the wind people sure as hell ain't telling or admitting any responsibility. Birds are annihilated by the hundreds and slowly the sounds you can hear from the wind turbines a swoosh-swoosh and the blinking lights can drive neighbors nuts. Property values drop; and you have to move to gain your peace of mind back.....Not a pretty thing.

Well, the issue here was water decided to take out a golf course or three. And in the meantime it also took out some natural habitat. Just ask this guy that had a nice home on the 6th hole on the Pebble course at Cimmaron

The desert is so unpredictable - - we are at an elevation of 3,000 ft. (give or take) and we had snow yesterday - - oddly, in the middle of the day - - followed by rain, which washed it all away. (...sigh...) the Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County mountains both got enough for skiing though...

Run! Don't walk to try to get your money back. Good luck with that.

Yup bet! Got more rain last night and snow to 3000’. 1st photo is of the San Jacinto range that rises behind the city of Palm Springs. Snow came down to 3000 on this side and stayed. The photo was taken just after noon. #2 is of a desert super cell rain squall I took on the drive to Phoenix. That one almost looks like an atomic explosion.

It DOES resemble a mushroom cloud !!! We were predicted to get some snow today, and we did have some snowy pea hail for about 7 minutes, but it melted before anything stuck. This is an odd El Nino year - - you stay safe out there !!!!!
